Why Walmart

PROGRAM

The Walmart-Berea College Internship is a paid program that offers in-the-field management training and is college credit worthy. Upon successful completion of the program and graduation from college, the former intern is eligible to apply for the Management in Training (MIT) program and can become an assistant manager in one of the Walmart stores.  Once becoming an associate at Walmart there are many programs and benefits that will make having a job at Walmart all the more rewarding.

BENEFITS
Health Care
Walmart offers many health benefits with multiple health plans to choose from, for both part time and full time associates.  These plans include: dental care plans, vision care plans and many more.
 Retirement
Walmart offers their associates plans for retirements such as: Walmart’s 401(k) plan which will help associates save for the future. With the 401(k) plan, an associate can save for their retirement by having money automatically deducted from their paycheck and put into a retirement account—all before taxes are taken out, giving them a little more money to work with.  One great thing about the 401(k) plan is that for every dollar that is put in, Walmart will contribute another dollar (up to 6% of your pay).
Investing
An associate also has the ability to invest in Walmart itself.  Investing in the company stock program is another great way to save money for the future.  With their Associate Stock Purchase Plan, Walmart will then contribute 15 cents for every dollar that is bought up to $1,800 that you contribute in a year (up to $270 Walmart contribution each year).

SKY IS THE LIMIT

 Flexibility and ability to transfer

After becoming an assistant manager the sky is the limit with Walmart. You can then go up the ladder to the many management positions in the Walmart Company whether it is in a Supercenter or a neighborhood market, the distribution centers (DC’s), Home Office or even Sam’s Club.

The ability to transfer is relatively easy; with nearly 11,000 stores in 27 countries and 2.2 million associates worldwide; the transfer opportunities are almost endless. Whether you are moving back to your home town, moving closer to your significant other, or just wanting to travel and explore new places, Walmart can provide the flexibility you need to ensure that your transition goes smoothly. People can have the opportunity to transfer within the company whether it’s a Supercenter or a neighborhood market, one of the distribution centers (DC’s), the Home Office, or even a Sam’s Club.  Having many possible transfer options gives associates the flexibility to make their careers what they want, while also being able to work in any area they call home.
